This forms part of the STAR awards (Special Thanks And Recognition) and is aimed specifically at exemplary workers within the hotel sector who excel both in the way they perform their duties and their general attitude towards work. The Hotel Worker of the Year award is a staff-driven award whereby hotel employees of any grade can nominate a fellow worker who they think deserves the award. How to ParticipateParticipation in this award scheme is through the nomination form below. Individuals working in both front-of-house and back-of-house operations are eligible for this award and must be nominated by a group of five employees (of any grade). The General Manager of the hotel will need to endorse the nomination if he/she does not form part of the nominating group.Applications for the Hotel Worker of the Year 2010 will open in the fourth quarter of 2010. Hotel Worker of the Year 2009The winner of this award was selected by the STAR Committee which was composed of representatives from five different entities. The Hotel Worker of the Year for 2009 is Stuart Psaila from Hilton Malta who received a certificate, an 18ct gold lapel-pin and €800 cash prize. The runners-up for this award were: Ursola Sant from The Victoria Hotel and Andrea Galea from The Westin Dragonara Resort; and each received a certificate and a cash prize of €150.
