MALTA & GOZO FEATURE PROMINENTLY AT FRANKFURT IMEX FAIR 24-26 May 2011 in Frankfurt/Germany, Stand D120 The Malta Tourism Authority recently participated in IMEX, Europe's leading fair for the Conference & Incentive travel sector, in Frankfurt Germany. In this year's edition, the Malta and Gozo stand was further enhanced by the inclusion of the IMEX Cafe', taken over by the MTA and branded with images promoting the Maltese islands throughout. A record number of Maltese participants also attended the fair, 24 in all, including Destination Management Companies, hotels, audio-visual specialists, venue representatives and the national airline, Air Malta, amongst others. The Maltese companies all concurred that their participation in IMEX 2011 was very fruitful and that plenty of interest was shown by overseas buyers and conference organizers in what Malta and Gozo have to offer. During the fair, Maltese beverages and delicacies were served to all participants attending the Malta stand, whilst Malta's culinary ambassador, celebrity German TV chef Rainer Mitze, prepared succulent Maltese dishes daily, for sampling by visitors to the stand. As a 'Green' initiative associated with the Maltese contingent's participation at IMEX 2011, trees will be planted in Malta and Gozo, as part of the Tree4U campaign (Further information below). With regard to the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Events) sector in tourism, 2010 was deemed to be a very positive year for Malta and Gozo. 2011, thus far, also appears to be heading in the right direction wherein Conference and Incentive travel is concerned. The Malta Tourism Authority is making every effort in this regard to help promote the islands' MICE offer effectively overseas. Apart from participation in the IMEX fair, the MTA also participates in the other major MICE fair in Europe: EIBTM, in Barcelona, Spain, as well as participating in a significant number of fora, networking meetings, Face 2 Face events aimed at building long term relationships with overseas buyers, as well as other MICE initiatives throughout the year. 1 Tree for each appointment madeMalta shall become greener!
