Palazzo Falson

Palazzo Falson Historic House Museum, Mdina, formerly known as ‘The Norman House’ was re-opened earlier this year, following major restoration undertaken by Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malti (Maltese Heritage Foundation). The origins of Palazzo Falson go back to the early 13th century making it one of the oldest buildings still standing in Mdina. Its most recent owner and resident, Captain Olof Frederick Gollcher O.B.E. (1889-1962), was a distinguished philanthropist who received a number of honours. A passionate collector of objets d’art and historical items, he put together the extraordinarily collection which is now on display in this Palazzo.  The courtyard area can host events such as small conferences, seminars, meetings, drinks parties, and launches for groups of around 100 persons standing, or about 30 people seated. This typical Maltese courtyard is a pleasant, atmospheric place where guests can admire the centuries-old medieval walls of the house to the sound of music, and water cascading from the fountain which adorns this courtyard. The roof of the Palazzo, which features spectacular panoramic views, can similarly be used for exclusive private functions. The outdoor and indoor areas of the roof could easily cater for a group of 150 people standing.
