MTA Malta International Tourism Press Awards - 2009 

The first edition of the MTA Malta International Press Awards was held at Palazzo Parisio on Tuesday 18th May. This event was set up by MTA to honour journalists/photographers from all over the world, whose work, published in 2009, contributed to the enhancement of tourism in the Maltese Islands.

In 2009 MTA welcomed 633 members of the international press from around the world. The exclusive Malta articles / programmes on the print media, internet, television and radio generated more than €32 million in media value. The exposure which Malta receives in the international media is considered to be one of the main and essential fields in marketing the destination. A total of 60 journalists participated in the awards.

Marco Merola for the article ‘L'ultimo Viaggio di San Paolo'  - GEO Italy.

Newspaper Category:
Nick Redmayne for the article ‘The Heart Beat of Malta'  - The Sunday Telegraph, United Kingdom

Photography Reportage:
Marco Ansaloni for the photography of the article ‘Malta - Una Cupola para la Historia' - GEO Spain.

Television Reportage:
Alex Van Delft for the television programme ‘The Taste of Life - Taste of Malta'  - RTL The Netherlands.

The Hon. Dr Mario de Marco, Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, the Environment and Culture and MTA Chairman Mr Louis Farrugia distributed the awards.
